The Sun covered the story on Monday 14th May, saying:

“Charity shops have made a record £1BILLION in a year as recession-hit middle-class families use them to save cash, a report reveals today. Takings have soared £34million – with nearly half of all Brits buying items since last June. Nearly one million more middle-class people now seek charity bargains. The Charity Retail Association found that mums with young children are turning to the stores for cheap clothes and toys. But the shops struggle to get enough stock as would-be donors are now selling items or making them last longer.”
